Project Organize

Here we are. Almost at the end of 2020. Still, I’m not sure where we stand for 2021 with this virus. But it’s gotta be better than 2020, right?

I’m trying to end this year with a goal that I set for myself at the end of 2019, and that’s to be more organized. Listen. Don’t judge. I still have a couple of days.

Late last week I read a Facebook post that was all about being a minimalist. I don’t consider myself one, but I do hate random things all over my house. I loathe hoarding things I will not use. This particular post was about purging any items in your home that do not bring you joy. I was intrigued and figured I’d give it a go!

Yesterday I decided to start. I tackled our bedroom first. We are planning to replace the carpet in there soon, so it made sense. Plus, I knew it would take the longest amount of time. When I was finished I had 4 bags of clothes and a small bag home décor items that were stored way in the back of the closet. I had a ton of clothes with the tags still on, but even so, I looked at them and they didn’t bring me a single ounce of joy. Most were impulse buys. When I finished our room, I started our daughter’s bedroom and then went onto our youngest son’s room. I filled another garbage bag from their rooms combined.

I still need to work on the hallway closets, our oldest son’s room & the playroom. (I bought some storage for the playroom that I’ll share in a post on soon!) I am really ready & excited to get the things that we don’t need out of the house! I have all clothing items bagged up to donate. I’d much rather share the things I do not need with others, than sell it for profit. Especially this year.

Ladies & Gents, if you have a goal set out to get more organized in the coming future or even in the coming days, try this. Go through your things and if they don’t bring you joy then put them in the donate pile. It’s tedious & exhausting, but very worth it!
